Power and Dean Team for Fourth Straight Win as SHU Swept by Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. – The pairing of Matt Dean and Brian Power picked up their fourth consecutive doubles victory as the Sacred Heart men's tennis team was swept by in-state foe Quinnipiac on Wednesday afternoon. The loss drops SHU to 3-9 in 2015. Quinnipiac moves to an even 7-7.

The win for Dean and Power came at first doubles, where the two powered past their opponents for an 8-3 decision. Despite Quinnipiac taking the third doubles match, Sacred Heart nearly took the doubles point, but Justin Pagan and Anthony Savio were edged by their competitors at second doubles 8-6.

The Bobcats won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. The closest SHU came to earning a point was in fourth singles, where Power bounced back from getting swept in the opening set to force a third break tiebreak by winning the second 7-6. He eventually was defeated in a close tiebreak, 10-7. Aside from Power, Karan Narula won the most games for in a match for the Pioneers, as he was beaten at fifth singles, 6-3, 7-6. 

SHU will play at the Sacred Heart Tennis Courts for the first time this season tomorrow at 3:30, as it host Wagner in Northeast Conference action.
