Box Score 2 FAIRFIELD, CONN. (April 16, 2015)—Adrianna Mallory's two-hitter led the Sacred Heart softball team to a 1-0 win over Siena in game two of Thursday's doubleheader after suffering a 4-2 in the first game. The split sends the Pioneers back into Northeast Conference play on Saturday 11-22.
The Pioneers struck first in game one as Jamie Carlson held Siena scoreless through four innings of work. In the bottom of the fourth, Kelyn Fillmore and Justine Sibthorp led off the inning with back-to-back singles setting the scene for Hannah Ford's two-run double to left field.
Sacred Heart threatened again in the fifth and seventh pushing runners to third base both times, but were never able to bring any home.
Kacie Wentworth, who came in to pitch in the top of the fifth, picked up the loss after giving up four runs on four straight hits in the fifth inning.
Mallory picked up her second win of the season after rendering Siena scoreless striking out eight batters through seven innings of work.
Fillmore knocked in the only run of the game. Kate Nadler led off the third inning with a walk before stealing second. Saints pitcher Lauren Butts got the next two batters out before Fillmore ripped an RBI double to the centerfield fence sending the senior across the plate.
Sacred Heart returns home Tuesday, April 21 for a single game against the Quinnipiac Bobcats beginning at 3:30 p.m.
