SHU Men's Soccer In Eighth On NEC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's soccer team was selected eighth in the 2015 Northeast Conference men's soccer preseason coaches poll, released on Tuesday.
The Pioneers return 18 players from last season, including leading goal scorer Mahmoud Kafel (Fairfield, Conn.). The senior midfielder had four goals and nine points in 2014 and has led SHU in goals in each of the last two seasons.
Defending conference champions St. Francis Brooklyn topped the preseason poll with five first-place votes. Saint Francis U garnered the remaining three first-place votes to be in second, followed by Bryant and Fairleigh Dickinson. Central Connecticut, Robert Morris, LIU Brooklyn, and the Pioneers rounded out the preseason poll.
Sacred Heart opens its 2015 season on Friday, August 28 at 7 p.m. against Vermont at Campus Field.
