Lynchburg, VA (March 13, 2016) – The Sacred Heart softball team was able to get their first winning streak of the season with Sunday afternoon's game. The Pioneers won their final game at the Liberty Softball Classic against La Salle 3-1. After what started out to be a pitchers duel, SHU started the scoring with a two-run fourth inning. That would turn out to be all they needed as starting pitcher Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.) won her second game of the season going the distance striking out nine La Salle batters while allowing just one run on three hits.
The Pioneers return to action in the UMBC Spring Classic tournament in Baltimore, Md. on Friday morning as they play Siena in game one before playing La Salle again on Friday afternoon.
