FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Christopher DeLucie and Austin Arcala combined for 42 kills, falling just one shy of McKendree's entire team total in Sacred Heart's 3-1 win over the visiting Bobcats on Sunday evening at the William H. Pitt Center. The victory snapped a three game losing streak for the Pioneers, who began a season-long six-game homestand by improving to 4-11.

Arcala's 19 kills were the third highest total of his career, just three shy of a matching his career-high. He was two digs shy of recording SHU's first double double of the season with a season-high eight. Also with a new career-high was Noah Ricchetti, who led the match with 48 assists.
Sacred Heart set new season-highs for kills (56), assists (51), and service aces (6) in a four set match, while its .287 hitting percentage was its third highest total of the season.
McKendree (5-7) did hold a comfortable advantage in blocks, 12-5, but could not overcome hitting just .175. Maalik Walker was the lone Bearcat with more than seven kills, finishing with 15. Zach Thompson led the match with 13 digs, while Wyatt Patterson led the charge at the net, playing a part in eight of the 12 blocks.

How it Happened
- First Set (25-17)- Tied at four, Sacred Heart rode DeLucie's serve to six straight points, which ended with a service ace to make the score 10-4, and the Pioneers would never look back, allowing McKendree to only get as close as four.
- Second Set (22-25)- SHU battled back from being down as much as four, as late as 17-13, to get within one point four separate times, the latest coming at 20-19. McKendree had the answer each time though, scoring three of the next four points to go up 23-19 on a Walker kill.
- Third Set (25-21)- This time it was Arcala's serving that helped Sacred Heart out to an early lead, tallying the first five points to take a 5-0 lead on a service ace. Three straight points got the lead as large as nine, 14-5, when McKendree recorded back-to-back errors, and even six unanswered to bring the score to 16-12 would not be enough for the Bearcats, who managed to get as close as 24-21 before DeLucie ended the set with a kill.
- Fourth Set ( 25-17)- A .524 hitting percentage helped SHU to a 25-17 triumph in the fourth, which began with the Pioneers down 6-2 early. Four consecutive points would lead the first of seven ties, which was finally broken when DeLucie and Michael Comens registered back-to-back kills for a 14-12 lead. McKnedree made it a one-point score three times from there, but the Pioneers scored five points in a row behind the serving of Arcala to take a 21-15 advantage and run away with the match-clinching set.
