Box Score Fairfield, Conn.– The Sacred Heart women's ice hockey got off to a flying start, scoring two goals inside the first two minutes of the first period, on route to an 8-2 win on Friday.
Sacred Heart improved to 3-2-0 for the year.
SHU's Lilly Cleary scored just 12 seconds into the game, assisted by Jayne Lewis. The Pioneers added a second under a minute later with Jayne Lewis again involved, this time scoring from a Katie Stueve assist.
Post would reduce the lead to one, with a goal from Jordan Hoyda, assisted by Kathleen Takita at the 5:09 mark. Taylor Moreland would respond before the intermission with a well taken penalty kick at 16:22 of the first period.
The Pioneers scored four goals in the second period with Meghan Kebalka, Olivia Bryant and Haley Payne scoring before Jayne Lewis completed the scoring in the second period for her second of the game, Brittany Smith also tallying two assists in the period.
Both teams would share goals in the last period. Molly Brumfield, assisted by Paige Dundas. Brittany Smith would complete the scoring for SHU, assisted by Olivia Bryant.
The Pioneers are back in action Saturday November 4 at Post at 8:15 pm
