SHELTON, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Women's Hockey team defeated Post to wrap up its weekend home at home matchup by a final score of 7-1. The team returns to action on Friday Oct. 12 when they travel to face Maine. Game-time is set for 2:00 p.m. 

The Pioneers would strike first as freshman Samantha Shoebottom would get SHU on the board with a goal off an assist by Jayne Lewis to put the Pioneers ahead 1-0 at 13:58. Then right before the first period ended, Haley Paine would launch a shot passed the goalie to give the Pioneers a 2-0 at the close of the first period. SHU dominated the shot total in the first period outshooting Post 15 to six. 

It would take seven minutes in the second period before Jayne Lewis would find the back of the net to put the Pioneers ahead 3-0 off assists by Olivia Bryant and Kelly Solak at 7:36. SHU would score four more goals in the game as Post only was able to score one to give the Pioneers the 7-1 victory.
