
Pioneers Drop Dual Meet at Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn.— The Sacred Heart men's fencing team dropped its dual meet to Nutmeg state rival Yale, 21-6 on Saturday afternoon.
Daniel Marchelitis earned SHU's lone win in the saber event with his third-round victory as the Bulldogs took the event 8-1. Lucas Wetmore picked up the Pioneers win in the foil event as Yale earned another 8-1 event win.
In the epee event, SHU started off strong with Troy Kapitze and Dante Centeno earning first-round wins in their bouts. After the Bulldogs swept the second round, both Kapitzke and Centeno recorded their second win of the match to tie the event 4-4. Yale would take the final bout to earn the 5-4 win in the event.
The Pioneers will head to Smith College this Saturday, February 10 for the third NFC meet of the season.
