NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Averi Farhat lends a hand in eight goals to lead seven Pioneers in the point column as the Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team (2-10, 2-1 NEC) knocked off Northeast Conference member Central Connecticut State (2-10, 2-1 NEC) in dominating fashion, 17-4, Sunday afternoon at Arute Field.

How it happened…

After 30 minutes, the Pioneers carried a 9-1 lead to the locker-room in large part to Hanna Wise's first-half hat-trick. Alyssa Pearce and Nicole Holder credited the early 2-0 advantage by 16:58 before the Blue Devil's Carson Adelberger cut into the streaking Pioneers exactly three minutes later. However, Holder, Farhat (2), Wise (3) and Pearce's all contributed to a 7-0 run to take SHU to the break. 

Farhat earned two goals in a 3-2 situation favoring SHU to roll out the second half of play by the 19:06 mark, 12-3. Following a CCSU goal that capped the second half's initial competitive play, the Pioneers erupted for another 5-0 spurt, 17-3, by the 6:26 mark subsequently putting the game out of reach. Alaigra Usher's goal for CCSU with 3:58 remaining settled scoring for the day.

The numbers…

Farhat finished with four goals and four assists as well as two groundballs and three caused turnovers on the defensive side of things.

Pearce chipped in a game-high five goals while also getting to a groundball and a creating a CCSU turnover.

Cassie Cesario and Wise both added three goals each. Holder's two goals rounded out the Pioneers' goal contribution.

Sydney Ericson (4) and Kerri Metzler (1) registered assists. Dominique Anselmin won five draw controls. 

Paige Hammick made seven saves in goal for SHU.
