
Orosco Named NEC Pitcher of the Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— Emily Orosco of the Sacred Heart University softball team earned Northeast Conference Pitcher of The Week honors for the first time this season after a sensational week in the circle. The junior recorded a 2-0 record in three starts with a stellar 38 strikeouts in 22 innings of work.
She opened the week with 14 strikeouts in the no-decision against Manhattan. The right-hander went eight innings allowing just one run against the Jaspers in the third inning.
Her strong pitching carried into NEC play as she opened with a complete game shutout against CCSU on Friday. She scattered five hits in seven innings while conceding just one walk to 11 strikeouts in the 1-0 shutout over the Blue Devils.
Orosco concluded the weekend with a four-hit shutout in the 5-0 win over Wagner to earn the series sweep on Saturday. She fanned 13 Seahawks on the day for her second straight shutout and the third in her junior campaign. The junior lowered her ERA to 1.68 and leads the NEC with 123 strikeouts with an average of 11.48 strikeouts per seven innings.
