NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Women's Tennis team defeated Colgate this afternoon by a score of 4-3. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 3-5 on the year. The team returns to action on Friday Feb. 22 when SHU takes on Columbia. Match-time is set for 4:00 p.m.

The Pioneers would take four out of the six singles matches while snagging one doubles match to earn the 4-3 victory over Colgate. Senior Olivia Podsiebierski would defeat Lauren O'Brien 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 while sophomore Lauren Santarsiero would edge Madi Kiani 6-2, 3-6, 7-5. Redshirt senior Sabrina Navarro would defeat Nicole Condas 6-0, 6-0 and the final singles win would come from junior Adrianne Alfonso as she took a victory from Elinor Simek 7-5, 6-4.

In doubles play the duo of Adrianne Alfonso and Lauren Santarsiero would pick up the match winner for the Pioneers as they edged Nicole Condas and Callie Bartimer 6-2 to earn the 4-3 team victory.
