
Men's Ice Hockey Receives Votes in 2020-21 USCHO.com Preseason Poll

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey team received nine votes in the USCHO.com Division I Men's Preseason Poll released on Monday, Oct. 26.
The Pioneers were ranked in the top 20 for two straight weeks last season by the USCHO. SHU first hit the top 20 on December 9, 2019 for the first time in program history when the Pioneers received 56 votes to claim the number 20 slot.
SHU is coming off an impressive 2019-20 season as the Pioneers tallied a program high 21 wins with 18 coming in Atlantic Hockey play and claiming the inaugural CT ICE title in late January as the Pioneers defeated #17 Quinnipiac by a final score of 4-1.
Recent SHU graduate Jason Cotton was a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award last season and signed the first professional NHL (National Hockey League) contract in program history with the Carolina Hurricanes as in his final season as a Pioneer, tallied a career high 20 goals, 17 assists for 37 points and was named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year.
