Men's Ice Hockey Announces 2020-21 Schedule

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey team announced its 2020-21 schedule this afternoon. All game times are to be announced at a later date.
Fan attendance will not be open to the public at this time. Ticket information will be announced at a later date if conditions allow for fan attendance.
The Pioneers kick off the 2020-21 campaign on the road on November 24 at in-state rival Quinnipiac as SHU looks to add to their 2019-20 CT Ice Championship victory over the Bobcats last season. The schedule features four non-conference games two which will be played against LIU as they have been added as an Atlantic Hockey scheduling partner for 2020-21.
SHU Men's Ice Hockey head coach CJ Marottolo has never been more excited about a season than this one as he stated "in all my years of being around the game, I do not think there has been a schedule that we have been looking more forward to play than this one."
All teams in Atlantic Hockey will play five games against each pod member (20 total games). Army will play Air Force for a pair of games (2) on the road totaling 22 league games.
Marottolo sees the schedule as a tough but exciting road to achieve that first ever Atlantic Hockey title. "Our league schedule will be very competitive, coupled with the two non-conference games we have scheduled as well, will give our team some fun games to be looking forward to."
To mitigate some of the risk factors regarding COVID-19 exposure during travel, Atlantic Hockey has separated the league into eastern and western pods, with Air Force standing alone as the geographic outlier. The eastern pod is made up of AIC, Army, Bentley, Holy Cross, and Sacred Heart. The western pod consists of Canisius, Mercyhurst, Niagara, RIT, and Robert Morris.
"Our group is really excited for the opportunity to compete. It has been a long and winding road for all of us and to be less than a month away from opening night has given everyone a little more jump in our step."
