Women's Ice Hockey Announces Non-Conference Schedule

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- Sacred Heart University Women's Ice Hockey head coach Tom O'Malley announced Monday, the release of the team's 2020-21 non-conference schedule. The Pioneers are scheduled to play a total of four games which compile of ECAC matchups between Colgate as well as in-state rival Quinnipiac.
The Pioneers kick off the four game set at Colgate on Friday, November 27 with a scheduled 4:00 p.m. puck-drop then will face the Raiders again the following day at 2:00 p.m. SHU will face Quinnipiac on the road Sunday, December 13 and Monday, December 14. Puck-drop for both games are set 3:00 p.m.
SHU returns 21 student-athletes to the 2020-21 roster which include First Team All-NEWHA junior Kelly Solak, Second Team All-NEWHA junior Anna Klein and 2019-20 NEWHA Rookie Team sophomore Alexa Ocel. The Pioneers are coming off a 2019-20 season in which they claimed NEWHA Regular Season title compiling 21 wins overall and 18 conference wins. Solak was tied for second on team in assists with 13 alongside five goals for a career high 18 points. Klein is the top returner for the Pioneers as she racked up 14 goals, 10 assists for 24 points in her sophomore season. Ocel was the top first-year for the Pioneers tallying 16 points with five goals and 11 assists. Ocel was also tabbed NEWHA Rookie of the Week on February 18 as she tallied three assists for the Pioneers in two games against Saint Michael's that came on February 14 and 15.
