
Men's Fencing Competes in George Kolombatovich Historical Meet at Columbia

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart men's fencing team suffered a pair of losses to Columbia and NYU in the George Kolombatovich Historical Meet hosted by Columbia University on Wednesday night.
- Competing against two of the top teams in the region, SHU started with a 20-7 loss to Columbia as the Pioneers lost close battles in the epee (5-4) and foil (6-3) while getting swept 9-0 in the sabre
- Frank Riccio, Lawrence Tan and Tomas Koeck each picked up a win in the foil while Troy Kapitzke was undefeated at 3-0 in the epee
- SHU then followed with a tough 26-1 loss to NYU with the lone point coming from a Cameron Silver victory in the epee
This is the final tune-up meet for the Pioneers who now head to the NEIFC Championship on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Poughkeepsie, New York hosted by Vassar College.
