
Pro Trial Confirmed for CJ Weinstein

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer senior midfielder CJ Weinstein has been invited on trial by New York Red Bulls II for their preseason training camp.
"I am delighted for CJ and his family," Sacred Heart head coach Joe Barroso said. "CJ has worked hard to develop as a player over last 4 years with us. We are proud the experience our players have here in the program allows them to develop and have opportunities to continue at the professional level."
Weinstein is hoping to follow in the path of Sacred Heart alum Marcelo Castro ('12) who was drafted by Colorado Rapids of the MLS in the 2013.
"The Red Bulls have given me an amazing opportunity to continue my soccer career," Weinstein said. "I am truly grateful to my family, and coaches and teammates at Sacred Heart University who have supported and helped me navigate through this exciting new experience."
Weinstein recorded 6 points and 4 assists in his career with the Pioneers, playing in 64 career games.
The New York Red Bulls II were founded on January 21, 2015, when the New York Red Bulls acquired the rights to start a USL club. Red Bulls II competes in the second tier of American soccer pyramid and serves as a reserve side for the first team.
