Gonzalez Tabbed NEC Co-Player of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J.- Sacred Heart University softball catcher Alyssa Gonzalez was named NEC Co-Player of the Week for her play over the past week down in Madeira Beach, FL. This is the first weekly award the sophomore has received this year. The Pioneers return to action on Friday, Feb. 6 when SHU stays in Florida to compete in the Stetson University Tournament.

Gonzalez tallied 6 hits in 5 games last week including a home run in a win over Incarnate Word and a grand slam in a win over St. Bonaventure. She added 8 RBIs and hit .400. She currently is third on team in batting average racking up a .296 percentage while she leads the team in RBI's with nine and is tied for first on team in hits with eight.
