
Women's Ice Hockey Announces 2020-21 Captains and Alternate Captains

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- Sacred Heart University Women's Ice Hockey head coach Tom O'Malley announced the 2020-21 captains and assistant captains this afternoon. Rising senior defenseman Jordan Sanislo and rising junior forward Anna Klein were tabbed co-captains while rising senior goalie Kayla Walewski and rising junior defenseman Kelly Solak were tabbed co-alternate captains.
"All four of these outstanding people have grown in their roles here at SHU. Their personalities, and leadership qualities reflect what our program is all about, and they will continue with everyone together as a team, to build our Pioneer Hockey Culture in a great, and positive way every day!" Head Coach Tom O'Malley on the naming of the co-captains and co-alternate captains.
Sanislo skated in 31 games last season recording two goals and two assists for four points. She tallied a +/- rating of +3 while she was on the ice this past season. Sanislo has played in a total of 97 career games recording an impressive +/- rating of +34 during her three years at SHU.
Klein had a breakout sophomore season recording a career high 14 goals along with 10 assists for 24 points. She was named to the All-NEWHA Second Team and recorded her first career hat-trick against St. Michael's on February 14. She also tallied four game-winning goals including a game winning penalty shot in overtime against LIU on November 9. She was tabbed NEWHA Player of the Week on December 10 for her five point performance in two games against Post on December 6-7.
Walewski appeared in net four times in her junior season and started in two. During those four games, she allowed just one goal with 33 saves and tallied an impressive GAA of just .40. As a starter, she went 2-0 picking up wins against Johnson & Wales on November 30 and against St. Michael's on January 10.
Solak recorded a career breaking sophomore season as she tallied a career high five goals, with 13 assists for 18 points. She was named the All-NEWHA First Team while ranking fifth in the NEWHA in defenseman scoring. During the 31 games she played in she also tallied three power-play goals.
