
Former SHU Midfielder Zander Hyltoft Signs Professional Contract

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- Former Sacred Heart University men's soccer midfielder Zander Hyltoft has signed a three-year contract with Vendsyssel FF, currently competing in the second tier of Danish soccer. Hyltoft signed on a free transfer from Jammerbugt FC, who he joined after his career at SHU in 2019.
"I am thrilled for Zander," Sacred Heart head coach Joe Barroso said. "No matter the task at hand, from his work rate in training to the way he cooled down, he was willing to consistently makes the sacrifices needed to be successful. We are proud his experience here all allowed him to grow as a player and a person and I am positive he will have a successful career as a professional."
Hyltoft is the latest pioneer to sign professionally following on from Marcelo Castro: Colorado Rapids (MLS), Omer Levy: Ramat Hasharon (Israel 1st Division), Matt Jones: Philadelphia Union (MLS), FC Tondela, Belenenses FC, Uniao de Madeira, Santa Clara (Portugal) and Anthony Anzevui FC Martigny (Swiss 1 Liga).
"Deciding to go to the US to Sacred Heart University was one of the best decisions I've made", said Hyltoft. "The experience allowed me to mature on and off the field in an environment where I could develop as a player and continue my education. The SHU family that you become a part of, and the lifelong friendships is something that I will always take with me."
