
Bishop Signs NWHL Contract With Connecticut Whale

DANBURY, Conn.- The NWHL (National Women's Hockey League) team Connecticut Whale has signed Sacred Heart University Women's Ice Hockey alumnus Maddie Bishop for the 2020-21 season. Bishop was drafted by the Whale in the fifth round of the 2020 NWHL Draft in April.

I know that all of Maddie's former teammates, and her coaches are very proud of her, and we wish her the very best in her professional career. Knowing Maddie, and what she brings onto the ice everyday, will add greatly to the success this season. Bishop tallied 33 goals and 58 assists for 91 points in 127 career games with SHU. She was named to the All-NEWHA First-Team for her career high 11 goal, 19 assist, 30 point senior season. As a Pioneer, Bishop tallied and scored at least 10 plus goals in each of her last two seasons with the program.
As a senior in 2019-20, Bishop ranked sixth in the NEWHA in total points while leading the alliance in short handed goals. Bishop ranked 47th in the nation in points per game averaging .94 points per game while placing tied for sixth in the nation in short handed goals.
