Kelly Solak leads conference with three goals.
WINTHROP, Mass. — After recording a career-high two goals on Friday, Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey co-captain Kelly Solak garnered NEWHA Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Solak leads the conference with three goals after the senior netted two in the 5-1 victory over Post. The Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. native also tallied an assist off Nicole Guidi's slapshot during a powerplay.
The league's top-three players for most points are all Pioneers as Solak sits in the third spot with four points. Forwards Anna Klein and Alexa Ocel are hold the top two with six and four points, respectively.
On the honor roll for Player of the Week is co-captain Anna Klein along with veteran Molly Elmore for Goaltender of the Week. First-year Katie Keenan secured her first Rookie of the Week honorable mention.
The Red & White travel to LIU on October 15, with a 3 p.m. puck drop.
