Two first-half goals push Bulldogs past the Pioneers
SMITHFIELD, R.I.— The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team traveled to Bryant for a Northeast Conference matchup on Sunday. The Pioneers came up short against the Bulldogs, 2-0.
Sacred Heart dropped to 2-9-3 overall and 2-3-1 against Northeast Conference opponents while Bryant improved to 4-6-2 and 3-3 in conference play.
Aaron Madison netted the first goal off the assist from David Medeiros in the 26th minute for the 1-0 lead. Madison had his hand in the second goal when he sent the ball to Ben Williams to extend the Bulldogs' lead in the 29th minute.
The Pioneers took nine shots including five on target while the Bulldogs tallied 12 with six on goal. Sacred Heart outshot Bryant, 5-3, in the second half.
Five Pioneers put shots on frame, but were stopped by goalkeeper Jack Bacon.
Albion Bacaj and Grady Kozak led with two shots apiece.
Goalkeeper Justin Siegel grabbed three saves for Sacred Heart while Jack Pincus-Coyle made one as the duo split time in goal.
Both teams took three corner kicks each throughout the contest.
The Pioneers travel to Howard for their final road game of the season on Sunday, October 24 at 3 p.m.
