
Merrimack Too Much For Sacred Heart

Drew David scores first career goal
FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team was back at Park Ave Field to host Merrimack on Sunday. The Pioneers came up short against the Warriors, 4-1.
Sacred Heart dropped to 2-10-4 overall and 2-4-2 in Northeast Conference play while Merrimack improved to 6-9-1 and 5-3-0 against NEC foes.
Stefano Pesenti scored from outside the box to get the Warriors on the board in the 21st minute. Merrimack would score again in the 30th minute when Frantz Pierrot assisted Johan Feilscher to extend the lead, 2-0.
The Pioneers cut the lead to 2-1, in the 36th minute when Drew David trickled the ball into the back of the net. The goal was a career-first for the sophomore midfielder from Denver, Colo.
In the second half, the Warriors scored two-straight goals within two minutes of each other.
Sacred Heart took 13 shots with five on goal while Merrimack notched 24 with 13 on frame. SHU goalie Jack Pincus-Coyle grabbed a season-high nine saves on the day. The Pioneers led the Warriors 12-4 in corner opportunities.
Up next, SHU plays its final regular game of the season as it hosts Central Connecticut State for Senior Day on Sunday, November 7 at 1 p.m.
