SHU outshot the Knights, 18-10

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net as they fell to Fairleigh Dickinson, 2-0, on Thursday afternoon.

The Pioneers fall to 4-6-1 and 2-3 against conference opponents. The Knights improve to 6-5-2 overall and 3-2 in NEC play.

FDU grabbed an early lead in the 14^th minute when Briana Esteves played a through-ball to Aitana Martinez-Montoya to draw Elyssa Kipperman off her line.

Martinez-Montoya converted again in the second half at the 49:34 mark off a header from Madelyn Robbins during a free kick.

Despite the two-goal deficit, the Pioneers were the aggressors as they outshot the Knights, 18-10, and led in corners, 7-2.

Nine Pioneers fired shots led by junior Nichol Green with four. Juniors Azria Malloy and Desiree Crawford trailed with three apiece.

Sacred Heart welcomes Howard to its home turf at 12 p.m. on Sunday, October 10.
