Men's Ice Hockey to Face Merrimack Saturday

FAIRFIELD, Conn.-
The Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team travels to North Andover, Mass. to face its second straight Hockey East Conference opponent in Merrimack on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Last Time Out... SHU is entering Saturday's matchup with an 0-1 record as the Pioneers fell to UConn 6-3 on October 2. Three Pioneers recorded a goal but was not enough to warn off the Huskies attack in the third period.

Last Meeting....This is just the third meeting SHU will meet with Warriors with the series tied up at 1-1. The last time the Pioneers met the Warriors was back in 2016 when SHU won 2-1. A short handed goal by Evan Jasper was the game winner that came in the second period.

Scouting The Warriors... Merrimack is coming off a day of rest heading into Saturday's matchup as the Warriors faced Providence on Thursday falling 5-2. Declan Carlile scored the teams lone goals of the night. In net, the Warriors have Zachary Borgiel who in his first game of the season, tallied 28 saves while allowing five goals.

Britt Bright Light To SHU....Junior transfer Logan Britt shined for the Pioneers in the season opener on Saturday. He registered a goal and an assist alongside three blocked shots to garner himself Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week.

Lombardi Rolling.....Junior Kevin Lombardi added onto his point streak this week as he currently sits on a four game streak as he recorded an goal and an assist at UConn on Saturday. The junior led the Pioneers in goals with eight a season ago while placing tied for fourth in points.

Transfers Transitioning Nicely....Logan Britt wasn't the only newcomer to score points for the Pioneers, as three other transfers Troy Conzo, Dante Palecco and Dakota Raabe each recorded an assist against UConn.
