NO. 1 IN THE COUNTRY
Heading into Friday's opener,
Felix Trudeau is tied for the national lead with 1.0 goals per game, scoring 13 times in 13 contests this season. The Terrebonne, Quebec, native has been on a tear, recording nine of his 13 goals over his last five games, including two hat tricks in that span. Trudeau also shares the national lead with two hat tricks alongside Penn State's Matt DiMarsico, ranks third in game-winning goals (3), and is tied for seventh in power-play goals (5).
DIAMOND CLUB
With two assists in SHU's win over RIT on Saturday,
Marcus Joughin reached 75 career points, totaling 19 goals and 56 assists. The senior from Windsor, Ontario, leads all current Pioneers in career scoring, with the next closest sitting at 67 points. Joughin is also tied for the most career games played among active Pioneers, appearing in 122 games along with
John Driscoll.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pioneers competed in the 2025 Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland. SHU dropped its opening game to No. 20/RV Union on Friday before responding with a 3–0 victory over RIT in Saturday's third-place matchup.
Gavin Bryant scored the team's lone goal against Union before the Garnet Chargers responded with eight unanswered tallies.
Sacred Heart bounced back with a strong, complete performance against RIT.
Michael Rubin scored his first goal of the season late in the second period, and the SHU defense stood tall to secure the shutout.
Felix Trudeau and
Reid Pabich added empty-net goals to seal the win.
In net,
Teagan Kendrick earned Player of the Game honors, posting 26 saves for his first career shutout and first collegiate win.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS
Army enters the weekend 4-8-3 overall and 1-8-2 in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA). Despite a challenging start to the season, the Black Knights are coming off a signature 5–4 win over No. 18 UMass at Tate Rink, which snapped a nine-game winless streak (0-7-2).
Road success has been limited, as Army holds a 1-2-3 record away from West Point. Discipline has also been an issue—the Black Knights rank sixth nationally with 14.67 penalty minutes per game, contributing to a 77.0% penalty kill, which stands 43rd in the country.
Junior forward Barron Woodring has been a bright spot, leading the team with 12 points and eight assists while ranking fifth nationally with 187 faceoff wins. Sophomore goaltender JJ Cataldo carries a 3-7-3 record, a .902 save percentage, and a 2.97 goals-against average into Friday's matchup.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Friday's contest marks the 91st all-time meeting between the Pioneers and Black Knights. Army leads the series 40-35-15, which has included 19 overtime games. SHU has performed its best in the Nutmeg State in the series, posting a 24-11-7 record. The Black Knights took both bouts last season at West Point, including one decided in a shootout.
