ERIE, Pa.- The Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie but earned the extra point after winning the 11 round shootout over Mercyhurst for the second day in a row on Saturday afternoon.

Of Note

A pair of Pioneers scored their first goals in the Red & White as Neil Shea and Troy Conzo scored goals featuring two by Shea on the day.
Graduate student Rourke Russell tallied two points with two assists on the day.
The Pioneers outshot the Lakers 44-23 on the day while going 1-5 on the power-play.
Goals flied back and forth all game as SHU tallied two in the first coming from Conzo (7:36) and Shea (19:23) while Mercyhurst answered in the second period even the score up at 2-2 off the stick of Marko Riefenberger at 9:53 into the period.
Shea's second goal of the day was clutch coming in the third period just 1:37 into the third with a pair of assists coming from Rourke Russell and Braeden Tuck.
Neither team scored in the over-time period sending the game into a dynamic shootout where eventually junior Kevin Lombardi tallied the extra point for the Pioneers with his goal.
