
Sanchez Grabs NEWHA Goaltender of the Week

Frankie Sanchez captures first Goaltender of the Week award.
WINTHROP, Mass. — For the first time in her career, Sacred Heart University goalkeeper Frankie Sanchez secured NEWHA Goaltender of the Week honor on Tuesday.
In back-to-back home games against Saint Anselm, the senior took command of the net with 41 combined saves this weekend.
During her extended stint in the cage on Friday, Sanchez caught 26 saves to keep the score knotted 1-1 in overtime.
In the 3-0 shutout over the Hawks, the Lake Elsinore, Calif. native maintained her spot between the posts to nab 15 saves leading to a victory for the Pioneers on Saturday.
Sanchez is second in the association with 218 saves, third with a 2.50 goals against average and has a .912 win percentage ranking her fourth in the association.
Also in the spotlight is Franklin Pierce's Jenna Ruiz and Brooke Remington as they earned Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. LIU's Jeannie Walker was named Rookie of the Week.
The Red & White are on the road this weekend at Saint Michael's with puck drops at 7 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
