KINGSTON, R.I.— Sacred Heart University Track & Field's
Benjamin Healy and Madeline Archangelo competed at the Rhode Island Men's Heptathlon and Women's Pentathlon Qualifier on Friday.
The duo competed in the events for the first time in their careers.
Healy finished fourth out of 14 competitors in the heptathlon. He placed eighth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.47 and shot put with 9.83m. The native of Naugatuck, Conn., earned sixth in the 60m hurdles with a 9.04 performance and high jump on a 1.80m leap. Healy also scored fifth in the long jump (6.33m), fourth in the pole vault (3.50m) and third in the 1,000m run (2:55.48).
Archangelo earned 12
th place out of 21 competitors in the pentathlon. The Collinsville, Conn. native placed 13
th in the 800m run with 2:43.17 and 10
th in the 60m hurdles at 9.66. Archangelo claimed sixth in the high jump with a 1.53m leap and 12
th in the long jump at 4.83m. She rounded out the competition with an 8.75m throw in the shot put which was good for 11
th.
Up next, Sacred Heart will compete at the Yale Season Opener on Saturday, with competition scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
