Men's Track and Field Turned in a Strong Performance at The William Sutherland III Invitational

Three event victories led the way
New Haven, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's track and field team turned in a strong performance Saturday morning, winning three events and recording multiple top-three finishes at The William Sutherland III Invitational.
The first event win of the day came from Rowan O'Brien in the 3,000 meters. The sophomore posted a career-best time of 9:20.69 to claim first place. James Barnacle followed closely behind, finishing third with a time of 9:29.40.
The second event win came in the 4x400-meter relay, as Carter Kelly, Brodie Proulx, Tyler Zacharczyk, and Alexander Rotondi combined for a first-place finish with a time of 3:36.87.
The final event win of the meet came in the pole vault, where graduate student Francisco Amore cleared a mark of 4.50 meters to take first place. The mark stands as the second-best performance of his Sacred Heart career. Closely behind was Benjamin Mandler. Mandler finished second overall with a mark of 4.35 meters.
The Pioneers also turned in a strong performance in the weight throw. Nathan Ainabe led the way with a second-place finish after recording a throw of 17.02 meters. Kristopher Chambers followed closely behind, placing fifth overall with a mark of 15.55 meters.

The Pioneers return to action next weekend on Saturday, January 31, traveling to Boston to compete in the Harvard University Men's Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
