Track and Field Completes Day One of MAAC Championships

Day two begins tomorrow morning
Emmitsburg, MD. – Sacred Heart University's men's track and field team completed day one of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships after a full day of competition, with events beginning at 11:00 a.m. and running until 7:00 p.m.
Hunter Bishop got the scoring started for the Pios in the javelin throw, finishing fifth overall with a mark of 55.60m. His performance earned four valuable points for Sacred Heart.
The Pioneers also found success in the pole vault event. Francisco Amore finished fourth overall after clearing a height of 4.40m, good for five points. Right behind him was Benjamin Mandler, who placed fifth overall to add another four points for the Pios.
Tyler Durang earned a podium finish for the Pioneers in the hammer throw event after placing third overall with a mark of 56.65m. His performance gained six valuable points for the Pios.
Right behind him was Joshua Wood, who finished fifth overall with a throw of 52.68m.
Kristopher Chambers rounded out the scoring for Sacred Heart in the hammer throw, placing sixth overall after recording a mark of 52.51m. Together, the trio combined for 13 points for the Pioneers.
Altogether, the Pios scored 33 points on the day. With a plethora of runners qualifying for tomorrow's finals, the Pioneers will look to add to their total on day two of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships.
