
Klein Snatches Second NEWHA Player of the Week

Anna Klein leads the league with 12 goals and 14 assists in 18 games.
WINTHROP, Mass. — Anna Klein had a hand in seven of the Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team's 10 goals in the two-game sweep over Johnson & Wales this weekend to earn the NEWHA Player of the Week accolade on Tuesday.
Joining Klein in the spotlight is LIU's Alva Johnsson for Defensive Player of the Week, Saint Michael's Leah White as Goaltender of the Week and taking Rookie of the Week is Saint Anselm's Tyra Turner.
The senior skated past the Wildcats for four goals and three assists on Friday and Saturday.
The co-captain opened fire in the first two periods on Friday to put the Pioneers up 2-0 before setting up Katie Keenan's tie-breaking goal in the 4-2 victory.
For the last home game before the new year, Klein padded the win with two goals and an assist, with her first serving as the eventual game-winning shot.
The second-year captain leads the conference with 12 goals and 14 assists in 18 games played.
The Pioneers have a month off before stepping back on the ice at Yale on January 4, with a 6 p.m. puck drop.
