FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The road wasn't friendly to the Sacred Heart University softball team this afternoon as they dropped a pair of games to Fordham 6-4 and 6-1 this afternoon.

Game 1

Score: Fordham 6, SHU 4

Of Note

Fordham jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of RBI singles to put the Rams ahead in the bottom of the second inning.
In the third inning, a two-RBI single by Michaela Carter would increase the Rams lead to 4-0.
SHU would get on the board in the top half of the fourth inning as a single through the left side by Kira Ferraiolo would score in Sarah Fagan then the following batter Marie Funes would rip an RBI single to right scoring in Amy Petrovich from third to tighten the Fordham lead to 4-2.
After a walk with the bases loaded for Fordham put the Rams up 5-2, junior Alyssa Gonzalez fired her second homer of the season to narrow the Fordham lead to 5-3.
Both teams would score one more time resulting in a 6-4 Pioneer loss in game one.

Score: Fordham 6, SHU 1

Of Note

Fordham would take a quick 3-0 lead after two innings as a pair of RBI singles and a walk would put the Rams ahead.
Alyssa Gonzalez would launch her second home-run of the day in the top of the fourth inning to cut the Rams lead to 3-1.
But the rest of the game was dominated by Fordham as they would tally three more runs two in fourth in and one in the sixth to walk away with the 6-1 victory.
