TRUMBULL, Conn. — For the second match in a row the Sacred Heart University women's tennis team shutout its opponent as it beat Merrimack 7-0 on Saturday to on Saturday to remain undefeated in the league. The Pioneers improved to 3-3 overall and 3-0 in the Northeast Conference, while Merrimack falls 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
Sacred Heart won the first and third flight in doubles to take the point. The number one pair Ciara O'Toole and Katsiaryna won 6-3 as did Flavia Rambaldi and Lauren Santarsiero at number three
The Pioneers dominated in singles with the team winning all six matchups in straight sets. Brianne Lauria was the first winner as she rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 decision at number three. Rambaldi followed at number four then Keira Tobia clinched the team win with her 6-3, 6-3 triumph at number five.
SHU has two days of rest before hosting Providence on March 22 at 11:30 a.m.
