Persson's Pair of Goals Leads to Regular-Season Ending Victory for Men's Soccer Over Central Connecticut State

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team ended the regular season on a high note as the Pioneers defeated Central Connecticut State by a final score of 2-0.

Of Note:

  • SHU dominated the entire game as they attempted eight shots on goal while holding Central Connecticut State to just three.
  • After the first half closed to a scoreless draw, first-year Olliver Persson fired a header at the far post off a free kick from Lucas Miquel Castrillo 49:54 into the game to put SHU ahead 1-0.
  • Then in the closing minutes of the second half, Persson would seal the Pioneer victory with a tap-in goal in the open net from a rebound kick by fellow first-year Rob Taylor IV to give the Pioneers the 2-0 victory.
  • SHU concludes the regular season with a 1-6 record and a 1-5 conference record.
  • Olliver Persson was the leading goal scorer for the Pioneers tallying three goals while Rob Taylor IV led the team in assists with three.
