Box Score WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — Even though Bryant University had a record-setting six-straight Northeast Conference titles coming into Friday's NEC quarterfinals, they were no match for the Sacred Heart University men's tennis team. The Pioneers sent the Bulldogs packing, handing them a 4-0 defeat at the Mercer Tennis Center.
The number three duo of Lefteri Apostolou and Tyler Lowe tallied the first doubles win with a 7-5 victory. The Bulldogs grabbed the point at number two and were leading 6-5 before partners William Wibmer and Cameron Goldstein rallied to clinch the point with a 7-6 tie-breaking decision at number one.
Wibmer, Apostolou and Ayman Khan secured the final three points to take down Bryant in the number two, four and six singles, respectively. Wibmer and Apostolou lead the team by winning both their matchups.
The Red and White move on to the semifinals against St. Francis Brooklyn which is slated for April 17 at 10 a.m.
