Box Score NEWARK, NJ — Following a tough season chalked full of cancelled matches, the Sacred Heart University men's tennis team concluded the regular season with a narrow 4-3 defeat at NJIT on Friday. The Pioneers dropped to 2-7 overall, while the Highlanders improved to 7-3.
SHU secured the win in the doubles competition with it tied going into the final matchup. The number three pair of Lefteri Apostolou and Tyler Lowe took the first match with a 6-1 victory. Cameron Goldstein and William Wibmer tallied the winning point with a 6-4 win at number one.
The Highlanders grabbed the first two singles points, winning at number five and one. At number three singles, Kevin Chao ticked the first point for the Red and White in solo play 7-6, 6-2 triumph.
Wibmer landed in the win column in both his matchups with a 7-6 tiebreaking decision and 6-4 in the second set at number two. Unfortunately, NJIT got the wins at number four and six to capture the team victory
