Box Score NORWICH, Conn. — A six-run eighth inning wasn't enough for the Sacred Heart University baseball program to secure the win in a 17-10 loss against Central Connecticut State in the opening round of the Northeast Conference Championship.

• The offense heated up in the top of the eighth with six runs to cut the deficit to four, as the Pioneers trailed the Blue Devils 14-10. Justin Jordan ignited the spark after reaching first on an error from third base to drive in Joe Emerson.
• To lead off the Pioneer scoring, Austin Markmann kissed the ball over the left field fence for his first postseason home run in the first inning.
• CCSU did most of its damage in the first three innings, including an eight-run second inning.
