
Men’s Soccer Ready To Kick Off 2021 Campaign

Pioneers open the season at Siena on Thursday, August 26
FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team returns to normalcy in the fall of 2021 as it prepares for its first game of the season at Siena on Thursday.
The Pioneers welcome back 10 returners to the squad, including leading scorer Olliver Persson who tallied three goals and one assist as a first-year. During the abbreviated spring season, the Haugesund, Norway native earned Player and Rookie of the Week honors on April 13. Other scorers include Segundo Navarro and Grady Kozak who notched one goal apiece.
Rob Taylor IV tied for second in the conference with three assists. Lucas Miquel Castrillo, who was named to Second Team All-NEC, led the Pioneers with 17 shots.
Sacred Heart will welcome eight new faces in the 2021 season, including Albion Bacaj, AJ Cirifalco, Nick Kirby, Etienne Murugarren, JP Nunes, Anthony Pipitone, William Rakkenes and Kevin Siwik.
SHU plays nine out of its 17 contests on home turf. The Pioneers faceoff against UMass in their home opener on August 30. On September 8, Sacred Heart welcomes Quinnipiac for the first in-state matchup since 2012.
Northeast Conference play begins September 6 at Fairleigh-Dickinson. In addition, the Pioneers will travel to New York to take on defending champion St. Francis Brooklyn on Oct. 14.
