Eagles’ narrow hitting advantage leads to victory.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – An upset of a Power 5 school for the first time since 2013 barely slipped through the hands of the Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team. The Pioneers opened the 2021 campaign by dropping a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-16) decision against Boston College on Friday.

Of Note:
In sets one and two, Boston College took advantage of a key runs at the right time to pull away. SHU rallied within 16-15 in the opening stanza, but BC responded with a 3-0 run that was the difference.
Sacred Heart dug itself a 17-9 deficit in set two, but worked its way back to 20-18 on a block by Dominique Felix and Reghan Palanchi. Olivia Fairchild's kill staved off set point, but the Eagles eventually prevailed.
Boston College hit .200 while limiting the Pioneers to .109. SHU was hitting .195 going into the final set. The Eagles sided-out at 65 percent to the Pioneers' 50.7%.
Jasmine Rogers was the only player to post double-digit kills as she notched 11 to go along with a match-best 12 digs for the double-double. Setter Sarah Ciszek just missed a double-double of her own with a match-best 25 assists and nine digs.
