Box Score WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team dropped its season opener at Monmouth, 6-1, on Wednesday. 
 
Senior William Wibmer and sophomore Lefteri Apostolou picked up the lone win of the day in doubles play. The duo topped the Hawks pair, 6-1, at number one. In singles action, first-year Matyas Vencl was edged in the first set tiebreaker against Luca Silva before dropping the second set, 6-2, in his collegiate debut at number three. Senior Ayman Khan grabbed a win at number four when Gabe Busato retired in the second set. 
 
The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday, September 25 when they travel to Holy Cross at 12 p.m.
