SHU forward had two-point road weekend
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Blake Humphrey ignited Sacred Heart's five-goal surge that erased an early deficit on the way to a 5-1 win at Niagara on Saturday evening.
Humphrey, a first-year forward from Syracuse, N.Y., took a pass from Ryan Steele and unleashed a shot from the slot that knotted the contest in the second period at 1-1. That was his second point of the weekend, which helped him earn Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week honors.
Humphrey, who has two goals and four points in five games this season, earned the Pioneers' first AH honors. The former Sioux Falls Stampede standout has been skating at wing on SHU's third line.
He and the Pioneers open their home regular season this weekend with a pair of games against Canisius.
