Lush Makes 20 Saves
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Luke Lush made 20 saves as the Sacred Heart Men's Hockey Team dropped a 3-0 game against No 15 Merrimack at Total Mortgage Arena.
Lush, who came up big in the opening period for the Pios (6-5-1), thwarted a pair of breakaways. The first came off the stick of Mark Hillier with 4:32 left, while Alex Jefferies came in alone on the SHU net with two minutes left.
The home team had one grade A chance early in the second. Two minutes in, Aidan Connolly broke free with space and tried to go five-hole, but Merrimack netminder Hugo Ollas closed the door on him.
The Warriors (9-3), who had a 23-21 advantage in shots and have won six straight, scored once on the power play in the second period and then added an even-strength tally before the second intermission.
The Pioneers are next in action on Tuesday at Cornell.
