Forward Had Two-Goal, Four-Point Weekend
BOSTON, Mass. – Ryan Steele had a four-point weekend to help the Pioneers gather five of six conference points at Mercyhurst. The graduate student forward was rewarded with Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week honors.
Steele, who had a career-high two goals and three points last Friday in the 6-3 win, had an assist in Sacred Heart's shootout win on Saturday after the teams were tied at 3-3.
The Stratford, P.E.I, native is averaging a point a game and has five goals in nine contests for the first-place Pios, who have a road set with RIT this weekend. Steele, who has a pair of winners this year, has 36 goals and 83 points over 131 career outings.
This is Steele's first conference honor and the first player of the week selection this season for a SHU skater. Blake Humphrey earned rookie of the week honors a few weeks ago.
