
Men's Fencing Wins Two At First NFC Competition

WALTHAM, Mass. — Men's fencing competed in the first Northeast Fencing Conference competition at Brandeis University, going 2-4 overall on the day with wins against the University of New Hampshire in a 23-4 rout and a 17-10 victory against Boston University.
Against the Wildcats of New Hampshire, the foil and epee squads were able to win seven out of nine competitions respectively while the saber squad went a perfect 9-0. For foil, David Belluomo was able to go 3-0 while Brennan Robbins eclipsed the same feat for men's epee. For the 9-0 sweep, Domenic Bartolo, Titan Wiles and Connor Loth helped the saber squad cruise to victory.
Against Boston University, Belluomo had another 3-0 sweep against competition. To follow that up, Stephan Neri and Leo Cruz accounted for two victories a piece to help the foil win 7-2. The saber squad nearly got another sweep in this round as well, winning 8-1 Wiles and Mateo Villarreal winning three bouts each and Loth following up with two victories.
The men's saber squad accounted for a good day overall, winning four of six total rounds against solid competition. Men's epee followed up with three victories in six rounds to help keep the Pioneers within striking distance of winning in most of their competition.
