Softball Announces 2023 Slate

Pioneers host 11 contests at Pioneer Park this season
FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University softball team released its 2023 schedule on Monday. The Pioneers will play 11 of their contests at Pioneer Park.
"I think we have put together a challenging and exciting early season schedule for 2023 and our southern trips will give us the opportunity to play some very good competition to prepare our squad for our northern opponents," said head coach Pam London. "We are confident that they are willing to play hard and support each other throughout the season. We are looking forward to watching this team succeed."
The Pioneers play at Iona in a doubleheader on March 15 before opening home competition with a seven-game stretch, starting with Stony Brook on March 16 and ending with Siena on March 29.
Sacred Heart hosts its first two Northeast Conference opponents in Merrimack (Mar. 18-19) and FDU (Mar. 25-26). The Pioneers also meet a new team in the league in Stonehill on April 1 and 2.
Four of Sacred Heart's games are in-state rivalries, including a three-game meeting with crosstown rival Fairfield. Both teams will faceoff for the first time this season at the Flames Classic on March 11 before playing at their respective fields on March 23 at SHU and April 26 at Fairfield. Sacred Heart also plays Yale for the first time since 2019.
SHU wraps up the regular season at home against LIU on April 29 and 30.
