SHU’s Director of Ops working IIHF World Juniors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Jessica Thibault, the director of operations for the Sacred Heart Men's Hockey Team, has a similar role for the U.S. squad currently competing at the IIHF World Junior Championships.
Thibault, in her second year at SHU, has been responsible for team travel, video coordination, pre-scouting for upcoming opponents and organizing day-to-day program needs. She will be doing most of that as "team leader" with Team USA, which gathered for a training camp at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., from Dec. 12-17.
"We are very proud that Jess has been chosen to represent our country at the World Junior tournament this year," said C.J. Marottolo, the Pios' head coach. "She does an amazing job here at SHU, and there is no doubt she will exceed all expectations in doing her part in helping bring back a gold medal!"
Team USA plays later today against Latvia in the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships that run until Jan. 5 in Moncton, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This is Thibault's first experience with Team USA, which has medaled in five of the last seven world junior tournaments. The Guilford, Conn., native is a Quinnipiac University graduate who worked with the men's hockey team as an undergraduate and has served roles with many other events and teams in the sport.
