STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University women's track and field had a strong showing at the St. John's Youree Spence Garcia Invitational.
In the 60m hurdles, Magdalena Brogioli was fourth overall at 9.22, and senior
Nicole Szilagyi finished behind her, in sixth place at 9.32.
In the 3000m, sophomore
Isabella Rogler was fifth at 11:09. 27, followed by classmate
Kelly Parker at 11:22.92.
Senior
Angela Kaiser (3:06.21) and junior
Cassandra Sturdevant (3:09.12) finished fourth and seventh respectively, in the 1000m.
In the 4x800, the relay of
Kelly Parker,
Sarah Mandelkow, Emma Doran, and Kathleen Cronin finished in third place at 10:39.57. The relay of Rebecca Dowling,
Meghan O'Donnell,
Mollie Rogan, and Grace Miller was right behind them in fourth place at 11:23.41
The 4x400 relay was fourth overall with
Prithika Satish,
Tara Brody,
Tori Chorzepa, and Emily Raymond finishing in 4:12.58 as Ava Srinivasan,
Madison Breckner, Mollie Story,
Megan Schneider completed it in 4:20.95 for sixth place.
First-year Magdalena Brogioli was fourth overall in the high jump at 1.60m and classmate Ava Coscia was eighth in the high jump at 1.50m.
Sophomores Jenna Engles,
Sydney Abitanto, and junior
Hope Handlin tied for first in the pole vault at 3.30m.
The Pioneers had a trio of top-10 finishers in the long jump as junior
Kaylee Stenderowicz was fourth at 5.20m, senior
Tara Brody was seventh at 5.14m, and sophomore
Erin Lavelle was eighth at 5.07m.
In the triple jump, Sacred Heart had a pair of top-three performers as junior
Kaylee Stenderowicz was first at 11.50m, and senior
Tara Brody was third at 10.72m.
Junior
Sarah Mitchell was sixth overall in the shot put at 11.20m.
The Pioneers are back in action next weekend at the 27th URI Women's Pentathlon and the Yale University Season Opener.
