
Women's Fencing Notches Victory at Home Invitational

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Sacred Heart University women's fencing opened Sunday's annual SHU Invitational with a 19-8 win against Vassar College.
- First year Natalie Mataiev from the saber squad went 13-5 for during the SHU Traditions Fencing Meet
- Alongside Mataiev were Sophie Witek with a 11-4-win record and Valery Krylova with a 11-10 record
- First year Nadia Gaberkorn went 13-8 for the epee squad
- Grace Hand was able to win a bout against Princeton with a 5-4 bout score finish
- Jenna Jacinto went 2-1 against the Brewers of Vassar
- Emma Marchetta-Turner contributed a win for the foil squad during the SHU/Vassar match
- Hand won another close finishing bout against Penn State with the final score of 5-4
- Jacinto went undefeated during the SHU/NJIT round
