
Gaberkorn Named All-Conference as Pioneers Compete at NFC Championships

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Senior Epeeist Nadia Gaberkorn highlighted the Sacred Heart women's fencing team earning Northeast Fencing Conference All-Conference Second Team accolades at this past weekend's NFC Championship.
As a team, the Pioneers finished the meet with a 1-6 overall record with the victory coming against the Wheaton Lyons by a 23-4 margin. In addition to a sweep by default in Sabre, the Pioneers also picked up eight of their 23 points in Epee where Gaberkorn and Nicole Dioh each picked up wins.
In addition to her win against Wheaton, Gaberkorn earned 10 other victories among the seven matches, including a pair of victories each against Wellesley, Vassar, Brandeis and the host Boston College Eagles.
In addition to Gaberkorn, sophomore saberist Jess Murphy closed out her day with eight points, including a sweep against Vassar College. In addition, she earned a pair of wins against Wellesley and one each against Brandeis, Brown and MIT.
The Pioneers will return to action this coming weekend when they travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and the home of Vasser College, Walker Field House, as the Brewers host the NCAA Northeast Regional. All of the action is scheduled to get underway at 10:00 a.m.
